FALLEN FRUIT and it’s FREE

Fallen Fruit of Columbus: Block after Block was originally created by Los Angeles-based artists David Burns and Austin Young. Their art collaborative Fallen Fruit will partner with the Wexner Center logoto create and install two public fruit parks in Columbus in spring 2017-one in Weinland Park, at East 11th Avenue and North 4th Street, and the other in South Columbus, at South Washington and Reeb Avenues. This effort is a part of Fallen Fruit of Columbus: Block after Block, an evolving installation of fruit trees designed to provide Columbus neighborhoods with a shared resource (fruit!) and a space for collaboration.

The fruit parks will be accompanied by an installation at the Wex, reflecting the rich history of Columbus and its neighborhoods.

Fallen Fruit’s projects in Columbus are produced in close collaboration with The City of Columbus, The Ohio State University Extension, Community Housing Network, Parsons Avenue Merchants Association, The Reeb-Hosack/Steelton Village Community Association, Wagenbrenner Properties, the Weinland Park Community Civic Association, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Funding provided by The Columbus Foundation, The Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, and Puffin Foundation West, Ltd.

Fallen Fruit of Columbus: Block after Block has a call out for volunteers to support the creation of these parks by helping to plant, host, and care for the fruit trees. For more information or to get involved contact Jean Pitman at (614) 292-4614 or jpitman@wexarts.org.
