HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

The Bowen House is an historic structure in downtown Logan, Ohio that serves as a meeting place for artists and musicians and is known as the town’s Cultural Arts and Education Center. Built in 1831 and nestled in a historic neighborhood of Logan, Ohio, The Bowen House is a nonprofit center for cultural arts and special events. The mission of The Bowen House is to provide the Hocking Hills region and southeastern Ohio with opportunities for diverse cultural enrichment, positive social activities, and a commitment to historic preservation.

The House has a gallery space and has hosted a multitude of exhibits there over the years. It is a center for all things Appalachian and an Appalachian Listening Room will host musical performances beginning the fall of 2018 where musicians can create and play and music lessons will also be offered. Appalachian Ohio continues to suffer economic and social decline due to the loss of high paying industrial jobs. A PFW favorite, artist Roger Williams, has his roots in Logan Ohio and will create a mural on The Bowen House, which will be a front and center attraction. PFW has awarded grants that helped sponsor four of Roger Williams murals seen around Columbus Ohio: In the Hilltop his 96 foot long Movin’ and Groovin’ mural has garnered national attention; he has had two murals welcoming every vehicle entering downtown Columbus over the years on the side of MadLab which too, have made the news and, there is the new mural welcoming all visitors to the Pearl Alley Farmers’ Market which is seen my tens of thousand of pedestrians and vehicular traffic each week. Roger is working on the design for this important mural entitled HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL  which will pay tribute to his hometown.
