2013 ARTIST GRANT INFORMATION

Dear 2013 Grant Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Puffin Foundation West, Ltd. (PFW). This begins our third cycle of being able to offer grants to individuals and groups whom are endeavoring and, more importantly, often succeeding in reaching across the constraints of status quo and creating dialogues that are peaceably transforming as well as moving our society in a progressive manner.

This letter includes salient information to enable complete your Grant Proposal and Application (that you can find at the bottom of this introductory message in a PDF) that can be submitted from September 1st and postmarked before Saturday, December 29th, 2012. Shortly after the Foundation’s 990 tax return is filed April 2013, Grant Award Recipients will be notified and hopefully this process will be completed prior to May 30th, 2012. If you require “early determination” please set that our prominently in your Proposal and, we request that your Grant Proposal be submitted by November 1st. We do endeavor to review Grant Applications in the order that they are received. If you wish for any materials that are part of your Proposal to be returned, you must submit return shipping packaging and correct postage and a separate letter to that regard.

All successful Grant Recipients will have responsibilities and obligations to fulfill to the Puffin Foundation West, Ltd. These obligations include that the use of the Grant Funds are only used for the purposes for which the Grant was made; that a Grantee provides periodic or a final report that includes an accounting of how Grant Funds were used by year’s (2013) end. By submitting a Grant Proposal you are also acknowledging our authority to withhold and/or recover Grant Funds in case such funds are, or appear to be misused.

Puffin Foundation West, Ltd. does not consider Grants for: (a) travel; (b) continuing Education; (c) projects outside of the United States; (d) general living expenses including housing or food; and (e) those who have sufficient alternative sources of support. Further, (f) only one proposal from any one person or organization in any single Grant Cycle can be contemplated for a Grant; and (g) we can only award Grants to citizens of the United States or permanent residents of the United States and by applying for a grant you are implicitly stating that you are a citizen or permanent resident.

Average Grants are $500-$2500. Grants that comport with our Mission Statement will be made in the following categories: (a) Film, Photography and Video; (b) Fine Arts; (c) Music, Poetry, Theatre and Dance; (d) Public Interest; and (e) Writing.
