The Puffin Foundation had worked with a super educator, Ms. Bari Pollyea, for years while she taught at The Hubbard Elementary School which, was closed down two years ago. She now works at John Burroughs Elementary School on the Westside of Columbus, OH that serves 370 Special Needs Pre-K through the 5th Grade students. The students at that school typically come from economically disadvantaged homesteads and, their lives are spent mostly indoors once they leave school and return home – mainly for their own safety. Puffin West has given a Grant that will bring three different highly skilled artists troupes which, have been vetted by the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education into Burroughs for three different performances. Most of these students have never experienced live performances by artists of any kind. These mixed discipline professionals will encourage the children to giggle, use their imaginations and, learn about that wonderful world fostered by the creative spirits called ART. Each performance will enable teachers to integrate the messaging of these shows into their educational curriculum.
