FILMMATTERS IS A NEW PROGRAM THAT WILL BE LAUNCHED AT THE 44TH CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. ITS PURPOSE IS TO ENABLE THE FESTIVAL TO DELVE INTO A SELECTED TOPIC. AT CIFF44 THAT THE TOPIC WILL BE RACIAL EQUALITY. FilmMatters will provide the opportunity for underserved filmmakers to showcase their work and discuss its purpose. The program will give these artists greater access to audiences and a platform to share their stories, bridging the opportunity divide and opening the door for conversation. The intended impact of the program is to present the work of outstanding filmmakers to educate our audience and community about the importance of racial equality. In addition to the 5-10 films that will be screened, there will be panels and interviews. www.clevelandfilm.org
