PFW has long worked with THE LANGUAGE CONSERVANCY.
TLC is an international NGO working with indigenous communities to revitalize endangered languages. TLC develops culturally relevant solutions to language loss, safeguarding these languages for future generations. TLC creates language-learning tools like dictionaries, textbooks, and apps; trains language teachers in best-practice methods; and advocates for indigenous languages through media and outreach campaigns.
At the (private/invitation only) UN reception highlighted above the film Rising Voices will be shown to which a PFW grant was given. In fact the written words on the announcement are in Lakota, which was a spoken spoken language only. PFW was part of a program that put their words onto paper. If you look at our historical grants on this site you will see the work, amazing work, we have done with them over the years. We must preserve our past and the roads that these indigenous peoples took that help to lead us to the NOW. They were so close to the earth and left no waste.
Get involved don’t let this majesty disappear. Our arrogance and greed have seen other splendors disappear or be on the verge of mass extinction like the White Rhino, the White Tiger, the Snow Leopards, our Elephants, our Puffins and creatures of the sea…(did you know that the lobster has been around for 6 million years?). This is our planet and the reality is that there is no other place we can go.
