First the VORTEX came to Columbus in 2014 and now the SWARM is coming. Tasha Lewis’ installation of 2000 butterflies in Franklin Park Conservatory’s Gallery for this year’s 20th Anniversary celebration of Blooms and Butterflies! It is estimated that 15,000 school-aged children will be served through the extended run of this exhibition and all visitors will want to walk under this magnificent SWARM. Adjunct programming through FPC’s FAMILY FUN and CAMP series will in part revolve around Ms. Lewis’s installation. Throughout the exhibition, children will learn how to make Sun Prints (cyanotypes) on light sensitive paper by using light to create silhouette effects of botanicals they collect. The Conservatory always provides hands-on creative and interactive programming that is designed to support their cross-disciplinary approach of teaching both arts and science to your young visitors.
