EUNICE KIM A 2020 award and PFW friend for many years submitted to ON PAPER
her 2020 project is entitled Nature Stories and her source and inspiration for this non-toxic printmaking is reclaimed wood from an old barn she and her husband tore down on their rural studio grounds. She immediately fell in love with the weathered surfaces of old growth timber and comprised the building. He technique has coaxed our narratives from the aged grains, knots, cracks and imperfections in the wood. She calls this “meditation on seeing” that celebrate innate characteristic on the intrinsic beauty of reclaimed wood. Eunice was just notified that she is one of the 13 finalists selected from 195 international artists and the only USA finalist invited to exhibit. She wished to thank the organizers of these events for their tenacity and perseverance in mounting these expositions despite the global crisis.
