Nancy Patz’ beautiful, moving series of pencil drawings from 2003 titled Who Was the Woman Who wore the Hat? comprises subdued watercolors and old photographs.Historical and personal, these images, and the story they tell, bring the reality of the Holocaust into sharp focus through an unknown woman’s hat. The series is displayed for the first time as an exhibition at The Anne Frank Center USA, along with a selection from The Artifacts Drawings, a 2014 series exploring Holocaust artifacts and memory.
