SID Public Services Association (SPSA) supports the development of downtown and operates Pearl Market which is an open-air farmers’ market located across the street from the Ohio Statehouse. The market operates Tuesdays and Fridays 10:30-1:30 from June to October. The direct marketing opportunity for the 15 farmers in 2016 who participated in this market is unparalleled in the region as the market attracts 4,000 visitors on Market Days. In 2014 Pearl Market began to partner with the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Community & Street Performer Program to hire local artists and provide entertainment; this has boosted the traffic and the sales of produce from the participating farmers and handcrafted merchandise from local artisans. The Community & Street Performer Program pays performers to appear on the streets during events and in various venues throughout Central Ohio. Tapping into the amazing talent of our city’s artists, this program shines a spotlight on the creative energy of Columbus. So come on down and tap your feet and eat fresh local produce.
