UNITY IN DIVERSITY
THE INTERFAITH ASSOCIATION OF CENTRAL OHIO, IACO, has received the support of PFW from our beginnings. We met when around the table that helped to bring the EYES WIDE OPEN exhibit to the State House Lawn. IACO’s MAIN EVENT each year brings almost 200 people together to break and share bread, thoughts, ideas, questions in a community of diversity.
In 2017 an interactive panel discussion brought new people into the room to talk political theory and how through Pluralism that many non-governmental groups use their influence to influence the political process and through this process our democracy has seen incremental change. Pluralism can be seen across our headlines today with respect to our Second Amendment. The goal of the Main Event is to enable us to find comfort and strength in interfaith engagement (that includes NONES). The intent is to highlight commonality of believers across all faith traditions and with those so do not declare a membership in a Faith Tradition. This program is designed to bring people together, to sit side by side in friendship, to share a meal and an awareness experience. PFW was asked to add additional funding for an Earth Day project that they will do in partnership with CRIS- Community Refugee & Immigration Services – to create a language garden designed to showcase 55 countries and 80 languages by creating a garden and mural at the Columbus Global Academy.
