Julia Barry’s HABITAT HOME was born as an urgent response to increasing hate and fear in America. It is a community organizing project that inspires cultural democracy and empathy across the county through creating artwork and performances, and working with local artist and residents constructively to respond to the civic and environmental crisis fracturing our homes. The culminating performances will be secular, non-partisan, free-of-charge, web streamed and followed by a reception to encourage broad attendance and connection. The arts can help us move past defense and create tolerance, engagement, and action in a unique way. In carrying out the actual work of HABITAT HOME, Julia Barry will create a space in which community members dare to listen, speak and support each other – a structure for resident-led community revitalization.
