Since 2012 The OBJECT Group (TOG) has served up the spirit of creative engagement and experimentation. This year, their grant award was given for their project which aims to bring attention and joy to a marginalized community of elders in assisted living communities, and share best practices ad fellowship with professional therapist, artists, caregivers and the public. Aging for many can be a complicated, expensive, unpredictable, drawn-out journey. In creating multiple activities engaging with the theme, TOG and partner organizations seek to assist the elderly and their caregivers in self-reflection, stress management, and learning medical/artistic techniques to lessen and express the burdens they may encounter. Their activities this year will include HA! therapeutic clown care led by Denise Arribas. This project will continue on with moderated events centered about the graphic novel “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant” by Roz Chast, with limited free copies of the book available for participants. www.TheObjectGroup.org
