DO YOU HAVE THE BACKBONE FOR ARTFUL ACTIVISM?

THE BACKBONE CAMPAIGN WILL HOST THREE ACTION CAMPS THIS SUMMER. LOCALIZE THIS! ACTION CAMPS will be held  June 14-17 in Bellingham, Washington, August 1-5 on beautiful Vashon Island also in Washington State, and then starting in Detroit, Michigan August 19-20 and continuing at the OCCUPY NATIONAL GATHERING in Kalamazoo, Michigan August 21-25. The Camps will bring top trainers and artists from across North America to share their skills by teaching creative tactics and non-violent direct action through artful activism. Through banner building, light projections, puppetry, float building and other projects that use imagery, the  success of the Backbone insprired messaging has garnered much media attention  this lsat year for issues being advanced by  Indigenous People’s Power Project, Rainforest Action Network, Rising Tide, United Workers, City Life Vida- Urbana, Steps Coalition, Standing Against Foreclosure and Eviction (SAFE), Native and First Peoples and other community groups across the country.   Localize This also builds alliances, helps to coordinate campaigns and organize strategies between grassroots organizations and movements.  This Puffin West Support project will help synchronize efforts, develop alliances and weave together collaborative relationships among Camp participants in order to grow a nationally-networked, community-based progressive movement.  www.backbonecampaign.org
