A PFW THANK YOU TO OUR 2016 GRANT AWARDEES

We are so grateful to all the wonderful people who we met this year through the Grant Application and Award process for 2016.  Each of the projects that received a Grant will be written up so we all can share, be inspired and thankful that so many people are fighting extinction, still have future vision and energy and sincere commitments to civil and social justice by their words, deeds and using the  creative process to cross all borders.  Here is a list of a few words ahead of blog that will be posted on each worthwhile and wonderful project.

GCAC our continued support for Power2Give

Gateway Film Foundation’s BOOK TO FILM Festival.  If you have a Library Card you have 4 passes to a Saturday morning film from May to August. Putting together a compendium of student’s drawings entitle PICTURE PEACE a project of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, which will be shown prior to each Book to Film presentation and on the Community Screen all summer long. And our support of the Gateway’s Doc Week coming this fall.

Backbone Campaign that used Kayaktivism as a crowd-sourcing tool that stopped Arctic drilling by Shell Oil and how can that success be applied to other environmental , civil and social justice campaigns.

Art Access in UTAH for their Dreamers’ Project and  their telling the stories of Immigrant Workers through performing and visual arts.

The Anne Frank Center, NYNY a show and adjunct programming about a family who were able to send their children away on the Kindertransport to save them from the Nazis in 1939.

The Ohio Alliance for Arts Education that bring Artists into the Classroom  of  children who most likely have never seen performances of any kind  be it  puppetry, spoken words, performances, music.

Columbus Dance Theatre for their continued excellence and for the Empty Chair in remembrance of Sandy Hook in all Match Girl performances.

Ohio Citizens for the Arts so that they can bring H.S. students from around the State to Lobby Day.  The students will be taught the talking points and how to lobby  for increased funding  for Arts Education at the State House.

League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus so that they can work on the educational reel of their film that depicted the history of the League and its values.

Columbus Children’s Chorus who will work with Transit Arts at the   Central Community (Settlement) House.

Ohio Dance who will be working with the Center for Balanced Living.

Leo Savage for his  FREE Americana  and Red Carpet Dinners for seniors that gives recognition and awards to selfless volunteerism.

Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus for their work against bullying.

Harmony Project for all the work and service that they do and recognizing that everyone has at least one solid note in them.

Wellness Forum and Chef and Author Del Sroufe for helping to get his cookbooks to the Pearl Market’s that EBT/SNAP/Veggie SNAP participants so that they  can not only learn how to spell Rutabaga but also learn what to do with it.

Welltone New Music  and Victoria Bond for bringing Classical Cuban Music  and Musicians at an affordable price to NYC audiences.

CATCO for bringing a Theatre program to a men’s prison that will allow these men to write a play an perform it that is a reflective composite of turning points and critical decisions made.

Jewish Folk Chorus of San Francisco in celebration of their 90th Anniversary.

Massachusetts Club House’s celebration at the Boston State Capital thanking corporations for hiring practices that include  hiring persons  recovering from mental illnesses .

Central Community House and our continued support of their Children’s Peace Parade and  the children’s  good foods meal at the Hot Times in Olde Towne Community Festival after they walked a mile from the Kwanza Playground.

Bhutanese and Nepali Community Photographic show of some of Columbus’ new neighbors and their stories.

Aminata Mane’s Journey to Africa being a workshop and  performance of traditional West African Dance and Drumming.

Dublin Arts Council and their Community gathering celebrating the 49 different ethnicities in their community by having each group bake their traditional BREAD to share.

The Language Conservancy and their film Rising Voices about the 136 lost spoken language of the 500 Nations and what the Lakota are doing to preserve their language.

ArtSpot and NewNoise from New Orleans  and their performance piece Jubilee  that invites the audience to partake in a meal where the conversation that the actors lead  purposefully  turns to  discussions into the history of   racial discrimination and prejudice.

Momentum-Excellence and their continued work with over 800 4th graders one day a week providing through group  movement life long skills.

Pickerington Community Theatre for their production of South Pacific that  not only explores Bali Hai but racism.
