The PAST Foundation (Partnering Anthropology with Science and Technology) is a non-profit provider of STEM education, school design, and workforce development in Columbus, Ohio. Although deeply committed to STEM education, PAST recognizes that good education and practice encompasses more than science, technology, engineering, and math and applies to all disciplines. Meeting 21st century workforce needs from farming to robotics and from health to the arts will require technology and a systems approach in every profession. A PFW grant was given for one of their programs that will be free of charge and will allow children to use their imaginations and tell their stories about being an Astronaut. The 32,000 SF lab is the first independent, research and development educational prototyping facility in the United States. Since occupancy, the Foundation has been able to secure new educational clients, expanding the sphere of educational influence throughout the Central Ohio region and modeling best practices on a national basis. Additionally, PAST has been selected for recognition as a Smart 50 organization from Smart Business Magazine as the top Innovator in Central Ohio. Additionally, PAST was recognized in early 2016 by the United States Department of Education for their work on improving STEM curriculum. They were the only entity in Ohio to be cited. pastfoundation.org
