ProMusica’s The Youth and Family Program is now in its 15th year. This year they will be focusing on how music functions as an underlying art form that has the power to communicate as a universal language through its structure, tone, cadence and composition. We know that through music we are able to connect with other cultures, communities, nations and races. This program is a standout as it partners with other community organizations all committed to bringing educational and artistic excellence to children in grades K-5. Professional musicians make visits to schools and introduce the students to different instruments and explain how they work. The children then learn basic musical concepts and each visit builds on the lessons from the previous one. The 250 students will then be invited to an interactive concert which will be conducted by ProMusica’s Musical Director (extraordinaire) Maestro David Danzmayer. This is a free concert to will take place at WOSU@COSI on May 10. Vouchers will also be available to Family Members. These experiences will indeed provide a lasting benefit and understanding of the beauty and power of the arts.
