“The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God has been turned into a play but is it based upon short stories written by George Bernard Shaw. The title story is a satirical allegory relating the experiences of African black girl, freshly converted to Christianity who takes literally the biblical injunction to “Seek and you shall find me.”[2] and attempts to seek out and actually speak to God.” (From Wikipedia
After she becomes dissatisfied with the inconsistencies of the answers the missionary who has converted her gives to her questions, the girl leaves to wander in the forest, searching for God. Along the way she meets a number of characters including vengeful deities, a Muslim, an atheist, and artist ….and you have to go to Karamu House March 22-April 15th. There will be two post show discussions with theologians and academics.
