The William B. Umstead State Park is one of the most visited State Parks in North Carolina. The park is used primarily by hikers, bikers, nature lovers, and picnickers. A PFW grant was given to them so they were able to reprint a book entitled Stories In Stone is a book with Oral Histories of the park and includes mapped hikes. This book preserves memories dating between 1870 and 1942 from the farming communities that once lived in Wake County. The book took eight years to speak with people who had direct historical connections with the park and it is also illustrated. The PFW grant was also used to create T-Shirts that are not only fun to wear but it gives folks a way to show their love of William B. Umstead State Park. The T-shirt designs are usually realistic photos or renderings of actual features found in the park. https://umsteadcoalition.org
