CHANGING MINDS CAMPAIGN
PFW again provided grant support to the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition’s (MCC) Changing Minds Campaign. This grant will help them raise positive visibility of the accomplishments of people who have mental illness. Each year the MCC has an Employment Celebration that is held at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. This year’s event will be on March 29th. At this event they recognize companies for taking action to diversify their workforce by hiring people who have mental illness. This event has proven to be effective in both protecting mental health dollars as well as expanding employment opportunities for Clubhouse members. The Clubhouses help their members live successfully in the community, gaining employment, an education and vital peer support. These Clubhouses also have created community with members becoming “family” and thereby lessening isolation that can be deadly for those recovering from the effects of mental illness. http://www.massclubs.org/
