Columbus Dance Theatre’s MATCHGIRL

Puffin Foundation West, Ltd. (PFW) is pleased to announce that a Grant  that will give 300 clients of  Second Harvest Food Bank the opportunity to see a special performance by Columbus Dance Theatre’s (CDT) of the timeless tale of the Little Match Girl  has been given.  This is one of the most heartfelt stories ever written. In 1846 Hans Christian Anderson told the story of a poor little girl, freezing, and out on the streets on a blustery New Years Eve unable to  to sell a few matches and, therefore, afraid to go home as she knew her father would beat her.  She takes a tiny refuge in a nook on the street and begins to light her matches to stay warm.  This ballet deals with  hunger and the  challenges faced by those less fortunate.   In these times with five million children in the United State of America going to sleep hungry each nigh, this teaful story brings awareness  to the inexcusable issues of  food insecurity.     You are  requested, as the  audience,  to bring canned goods and staple food items  to Friday and Saturday’s 8P performaces on Dec 16th and 17th at the Fritsche Theatre at Otterbein University and to the Matinee performance on the 17th at 3P.   Your food contributions to this annual event is  a  meaningful  way in which   we the people of  Central Ohio  can display its awesome generosity.
