A grant was given to an Art Education Outreach, being an after school program that will educate encourage and engage K-6 grade students about African-American artists. Most of these youths have been negatively impacted by exposure to lead poisoning due to the city of Flint Michigan’s poor water system, which is leeching toxins into the households of local resident. A local artist and graphic designer will lead the children in drawing painting and sculpture assignments. Students will also write short papers and stories. The program will also show 20 award winning videos including documentaries and interviews of late-and existing African American artists.
