The Cleveland Public Theatre’s Y-Haven Project engages men living in transitional housing who are in recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction in a life-changing arts-based learning experience. This groundbreaking program addresses critical person, interpersonal, and job related skills through a comprehensive process culminating with a performance and tour of an original play based on their real-life stories. This team of men collaborates to create drama from their collective life histories that address important life issues. The Y-Haven Project process allows the men a safe place in which to reexamine existing beliefs, attitudes and feeling and to try out new alternative ways to acting and being in the world. The result is close to a miracle as the men all come to better understand themselves and their life’s struggles and see a path to overcome them. At each performance there is also talkbacks with the audience. CPTONLINE.ORG
