MadLab will again produce its 2014 “Young Writers Short Play Festival” that has the proven ability to inspire and teach young artists. Puffin West is happy to help sponsor this opportunity for high school students to see and learn about themselves as artists without censorship or judgment. These students will have the benefit to be brought into a collaborative creative process that will give them amazing insights and experiences. Each selected playwright will be matched with a local mentor who will guide him or her through an intensive workshop process where the young playwrights will hone their craft and perfect their scripts. Benchmarks will be met in accordance with the Academic Standards for Fine Arts approved by the State of Ohio Board of Education. In addition, five established national playwrights have agreed to provide additional feedback through e-mail and phone conversations.
