PIPE DOWN AND LISTEN
Puffin West is so pleased to welcome Cincinnati Men’s Chorus into our family. This grant will help this Chorus reach out to GLBT youth in their community to enable them to attend FREE OF CHARGE the PRIDE CONCERT to be held this June at the Corbett Theater at the School for Creative & Performing! This all-volunteer Chorus is in its 24th year and acts as positive role model for teens who often still face discrimination, intolerance and violence. Through their outreach with the local GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Educational Network) they work to overcome stereotyping by the community at large, which still has heated arguments about Gay Rights as opposed to supporting an Individual’s Rights. Through their mastery, and they have six commercially available CD’s, they have been able to demonstrate that music is a universal language that makes people quiet down and listen. And so through their music they are able to change the hearts and minds of some of those who previously may have been deaf to the issues of the GLBT community.
