Radio “NOLA” (that is New Orleans Louisiana for you Yankees) “WHIV 102.3” is a project of The New Orleans Society for Infectious Disease Awareness (NOSIDA) that got turned on as a low-power FM commercial free radio station on December 1st, 2014. www.whivfm.org/ It is dedicated to HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE. The station’s signal covers all of metropolitan NO. The call letters WHIV reflect NOSIDA’s mission to raise HIV awareness and to decrease the stigma associated with HIV. New Orleans ranks #3 among U.S. metro areas for HIV and AIDS diagnosis due to unprotected sex and the sharing of needles. This is a disease that thrives on poverty, sexual stigma and racial inequality. This radio station will strengthen relationships, communication and collaboration among people fighting for social justice.
