This Project was by Catherine Messina she made a film that has been viewed by over 250 people at this time, and has the chance to grow as we will promote it in the New Year as an independent viewing. Film became a dance that was performed at 3 venues in PA, NY, and GA. One of the first challenges that we faced was the photographer ended up having her camera on the wrong setting, and all of the promotional material came out quite poorly. By having an honest conversation with her, we were able to come to an agreement.
A smaller, funny concern was that I really wanted my childhood cornfield to be in the shot. Our shoot day, early June, is not corn season, and I completely forgot to plan around this. We did accomplish our goals, but truly money and time are eaten up so quickly! It was a great learning lesson.
It was very important for me to have my students watching it, being inspired by the future and continuing to create during Covid-19 times. After watching, they begged to learn the final duet, and I was able to teach them non-binary, non-balletic partnering, exposing them to a whole new world out there, and teaching them about how to apply for grants and make a project come to life.
