The Dancer’s Cooperative program this year will address the disparity between mostly white, front-of -house restaurant workers and back-of-house workers, mostly people of color. The audience will be seated at tables by the Maître d’ and handed menus which will double as the concert programs noting that the work will be organized in five courses/parts. Social justice work is woven into the fabric of Serf Turf and will bring to light what many restaurant workers have witnessed being the pushing aside of labor laws, sexual harassment, racism and unapologetic inequality. The Dancer’s Cooperative is a process-driven contemporary dance theatre project, which aims to address the challenges of the traditional dingle-artist, not for profit model in a post recession world. http://thedancerscooperative.org
