PFW has been able to provide grant awards to Ohio Dance (OD) for a number of years to help support the Ohio Dance Festival to be held on April 28th- 30th as well as their work with other NFPs that they have partnered. This work has always given voice through movement to those in our population who have lost their voice due to incarceration and other issues which involve re-entry into the community or recovery. This year they will be working with the Center for Balanced Living and will be offering movement classes with guided breathing for those suffering from eating disorders.
We again, will also be giving support to the annual OhioDance Festival which is vital to Ohio’s Dance Community and is a connector for the multiple forms of dance to a broad array of users including dancers in pre-professional programs, school districts and colleges seeking dance education experiences. The guest artist this year is Alexis Wilson, a well-known professional dancer and writer. Her story deals with the interracial marriage at a time of non-acceptance. She was raised by her famous dad, Billy Wilson, a gay man. This is a 3-day event with workshops that teach the rigors and artistry of dance and connect practitioners and audiences in meaningful ways. OD offers need-based scholarships to students and a FREE Young Artists concert. www.ohiodance.org
