THE FARMER IS THE ONE WHO FEEDS US ALL

The North Market is home to the oldest running Farmers’ Market in Central Ohio and it is also unique in that it is located in an urban area.  The NORTH MARKET Development Authority has been given a Grant that will provide a five-dollar match to holders of EBT/SNAP cards. PFW in its small way has been fighting food insecurity in this manner now for 4 years.  The Pearl Market has had a similar program in place also funded by a PFW Grant.  How it works is if a person takes off five dollars from their card they will receive an additional five dollars to spend on food.  This will have a positive impact on families, veterans and seniors who are cardholders in our community as well as provide Farmers who sell at the Market five additional dollars in revenue.  

Another grant was given to create four murals depicting the rich history of the North Market. Local new and emerging artists will create these murals.  They will be hung on the mezzanine dining level of the Market.  With over 1 million visitors/shoppers per year, the murals will be a centerpiece of the market
