Tying their performances to Ohio academic standards and common core curriculums
500 students in grades K-5 at the Olde Orchard Elementary School will be the audience for three different performance artists, which have been vetted by the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education. Unfortunately, many of these children have never seen live theatre so PFW is so excited bring them these experiences. Olde Orchard is an alternative school emphasizes literacy and encourages learning by DOING. This grant personifies many of the words in PFW’s Mission statement including “opening the doors of artistic expression, imagination and creativity and innovation.”
Madcap Puppets will take center stage at Olde Orchard and these Giant Puppets will portray many characters from Mark Twain’s stories.
Lynette Ford will share some of her Home-Fried Tales being her own adaptions of folktales. Ms. Ford’s rhythmic, interactive style encourages language and literacy skills, creative writing and an appreciation for the oral tradition.
Finally Tony West and the Imani Dancers will perform. This ensemble of dancers, musicians and actors blend contemporary experiences with the influences of African heritage. Even Miss Puffin hopes to make it to these three shows.
