WGRN-LP http://www.wgrn.org is a new FCC-licensed non-profit/educational FM radio station in Columbus OH. The station is heard on 94.1 FM and is a very clear frequency with no interference and can be heard in the downtown area! It has been able to provide since EARTH DAY, April 23,2016, an excellent signal that can reach almost all areas within Franklin County or over one half million people. Can you imagine even one percent of us listening to Amy Goodman’s award winning broadcast Democracy Now! which PFW has supported for over a decade in our metropolitan area but the broadcast area was not so inclusive. THE CENTRAL OHIO GREEN EDUCATION FUND is their fiscal sponsor and is excepting donations for start-up costs and continuing operations.
WGRN will have programming from 6:00 a.m. until midnight 7 days a week. You should review their Programming schedule and see that WGRN truly is programming for the needs of Columbus’ highly diverse communities. They will air several programs produced by Talktainment Radio. Musically, programs will include Baroque and Beyond, Galactic Travels, Beat Oracle (electronica) Folk’n Around with Victrola programs for the young and elderly, YouthBeatRadio (a long PFW supported OSU student radio undertaking about issues confronting young people), Healing Voices, Healing Choices and EcoShift produced by Eugene Beer. WGRN’s strong commitment to environmental programming and diverse community activism is a fine Mission fit with Puffin West and we hope you tune in.
