The Facts
More than 50% of preschool children from low-income households are not ready for Kindergarten, compared to just 24% of children from moderate-income households. In Columbus, 39% of third-graders cannot pass a reading proficiency test and the failure rate is four times higher for economically disadvantaged children. The CCH Response
Children ages 6 weeks to 5 years can attend our Early Education Child Care Center to prepare for Kindergarten and beyond, also allowing parents to work to support their families. Our Afterschool Program and Summer Camp programs – full of fun, food, and friends for youth – also assess the needs of each child and provide structured individualized tutoring by professional educators, behavioral/mental health support and mentorship of staff. Transit Arts, Summer Youth Employment and other teen programming surrounds young people with encouraging mentors and structured opportunities to grow life- and job-skills. http://www.cchouse.org/
