I just wanted to briefly update you on the Clifton Center’s Louisville Heritage Project.  On Monday, the Clifton Center featured banjoist Jayme Stone and his Lomax Project, featuring other traditional musicians including Grammy award-winning mandolin player Tim O’Brien.   They performed renditions of and discussed the field recordings made by pioneering folklorist Alan Lomax.  The repertoire included Appalachian ballads, fiddle tunes, Bahamian sea chanties, and African American songs from the Georgia Sea Islands.

On Tuesday, the musicians also visited Field Elementary School and performed an education and participatory concert for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.  It was a fantastic concert and enjoyed by all the students and teachers.  I have included some photos, as well as a brief video to give you a flavor of the experience.

We are grateful to the Puffin West Foundation for making this possible!

Many thanks!

-Kristen Tidwell, Development Director
