Field (known as Theo Watson: Interactive Butterfly Habitat at the Franklin Park Conservatory was very successful as both art and a tool to teach about the environment and man’s impact on it. It was so successful that the installation it was extended 3 weeks.
The Conservatory also decided to change slightly how we reached under-served populations. The original plan was to distribute 5,000 free tickets through organizations with which we partner such as Volunteers of American and YWCA. In order to reach a larger number of people through our Access Program, we decided to have free community days the first Sunday of each month starting in June. On these days any resident from the city of Columbus or Franklin County was admitted for free. On free community days during this project, we admitted 12,717 people free. We also distributed 1,917 free tickets through our partner organizations.
We are so appreciative of Puffin Foundation West’s support of this project. We believe this project positively impacted both children and adults, and for that we thank you.
Best,
