YOU CAN’T CONTROL THE UNIVERSE

Faith Helma received a modest grant for her solo performance as a theatre maker in an undertaking entitled I HATE POSITIVE THINKING. She believes that Americans are fixated with positive thinking and will articulate an alternative.  The tension between these two things – her rage against positive thinking on one hand, and her desire to help people tap into the power of their unconscious mind on the other- is at the heart of this show.  Think Barbara Ehrenreich’s scathing book entitled Bright-Sided: How Positive Thinking is Undermining America.  Look and Listen for her rantings in Portland, OR at Seattle’s Northwest New Works Festival this June.
