Illuminate Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to increase accessibility to photographic education and the arts by providing photography education and opportunities to underserved communities in the metro Atlanta area. They believe that artistic education and engagement is vital to all communities. Through programming, culminating exhibitions, and with a focus on outreach, Illuminate Atlanta aims to advance opportunities in underserved communities, encourage social change, and work toward a just artistic society that reflects its diverse voices. All individuals should have access to artistic education and opportunity regardless of race, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. Atlanta’s arts community should reflect its varied and diverse communities and their experiences. They believe that photography is a universal language and we hope to teach more people to speak it. They aim to serve and provide our communities with the arts and its potential for creative expression as well as its ability to help build and sustain economically and culturally vibrant communities. Our grant is being used to sponsor their summer photography camp.
