2016 HOT TIMES TRIBUTE AND TRANSIT ARTS TO COLLABORATE

We are so excited to announce this year’s Tribute  to Attorney Kate Schulte will add a performance where the young artists of TRANSIT ARTS will collaborate with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians including Kidd Jordan longtime New Orleans jazz saxophonist and educator,   The Kate Schulte Foundation named in honor of the late civil rights attorney and activist, “is dedicated to furthering the cause of equal justice, equal rights, and equal opportunity for all through the arts.”  Kidd Jordan, Hamiet Bluiett, Oliver Lake, D.D. Jackson, Marlon Jordan, and The Jazz Poetry Ensemble will perform at Central Community House on Thursday, September 8.  The Jazz Poetry Ensemble has been performing in Columbus for almost 30 years. The configuration of the last several years is Michael Vander Does on poetry and trombone, Roger Hines on bass, Roger Myers on drums, and Brett Burleson on guitar.  After a short set, they will be joined in a jam by TRANSIT ARTS’ beat-boxers, drummers, rappers, and hip-hop dancers.
