The California the State Senate has recognized April as Arab American Heritage Month. The NFP A COUNTRY CALLED SYRIA celebrated at a local middle eastern restaurant with an array of authentic cuisines. There were tradition activities including Backgammon, Barjees 
and cards. Barjees is a cross and circle-type game similar to Pachisi, Parcheesi and Ludo that goes back to the 4th centruy, A live Musician and singer and especially a Syrian cultural storyteller known as Hakawati. Renowned Syrian poetry was also recited. The night of folklore geared to a diverse audience educated and connected community members to the Syrian roots, culture and current s and cards.
