Shuli Eshel, Israeli born award winning producer-director documentarian whose new film is entitled: A VOICE AMONG THE SILENT: THE LEGACY OF JAMES G. McDONALD.

McDonald recognized early on the threat the Nazi regime posed to European Jewry and worked tirelessly to warn the world of the coming danger. In 1933 as a journalist and head of the Foreign Policy Association, McDonald went to Germany and was one of the first Americans to meet with Hitler. Face-to face, Hitler was amazingly blunt about his plans of Jewish extermination. McDonald recorded his insights in a diary that was recently discovered and published by Indiana University Press, in association with the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. Ms. Eshel’s documentary with interviews with his daughters, the editors of the diary and other brings the story of McDonald’s humanitarianism as he became a voice for the sake of the Jews but also for the larger cause of freedom, justice and equal treatment for all human being everywhere, whatever their race, religion or nationality. McDonald became the League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the 1930’s and was also the first U.S. Ambassador to Israel appointed by President Truman. PFW has give Ms. Eshel a grant to help her pursue producing the educational reel and study guide for teachers.
