The Events, a hit play in London and at the Edinburgh Festival, innovatively deals with the subject of the aftermath of a tragic mass shooting event and its resonant impact on a community. Written by English playwright David Greig each performance of The Events will feature a twenty-member choir drawn from Columbus’ acclaimed community choir The Harmony Project.  On stage with two outstanding cast members from Britain’s Actors Touring Company, the Harmony Project choir represent both the victims of the tragedy as well as the members of the community trying to cope with understanding how such an event could happen in their midst while their songs punctuate the touching production. In addition to the six performances October 1-5 at the Wexner Center that will be a major highlight of the Wexner Center’s 25th anniversary in 2014-15, they will organize a panel discussion on current perspectives and strategies that campuses and communities are considering in light of the increasing number of such tragedies. This unique, poignant and thought-provoking play will be a special opportunity for Columbus audiences to delve into these timely issues in a way only live theater can deliver.  As The Daily Telegraph‘s critic put it, “Probably the finest, most important thing Greig has written.  5 Stars”

Through their singing and community activism to connect diverse audiences, The Harmony Project have emerged as a significant presence on the Columbus scene and are ideal partners with the Wexner Center for the Arts to maximize the local impact of bringing The Events to our stage.
