ART MOBILE CRUISE BRINGS JOY TO THE HILLTOP AS SUMMER JAM IS CANCELLED

The first ever Cruising the Hilltop Art Car Parade took place on Saturday, 5/9. It featured nine art cars (!) from Columbus Drives Art. Summer Jam’s The Grape Escape led the way. Thanks to Columbus Drives Art for bringing mobile art and excitement to the Hilltop at a time when we could all use some joy.

By now, many of you will have heard about or read our statement below regarding the 2020 festival and Covid-19. Please give it a read and then check below for some other updates.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce our decision to cancel the 2020 Summer Jam West festival. We were looking forward to providing a sense of normalcy and a much-needed celebration for our community with a day of music, art, and a whole lot of fun. However, with no lifting of restrictions on gatherings in sight, and no clear picture of what the reality of those gatherings would ultimately look like, we decided it’s best to put the health and safety of our vendors, bands, artists, and community ahead of everything else. We have our sights set on July 10, 2021 in anticipation of bringing you the best Summer Jam West festival yet.

As an organization, we still have much to celebrate. Soon, Michael & Chris from Artisan Rooms will begin the Color Your World Green mural project at 3045 Sullivant Avenue. We eagerly anticipate watching the progress and are planning a Community Dedication as circumstances will allow.
We just finished the very first Cruising the Hilltop Art Car Parade through several Hilltop neighborhoods this past Saturday (5/09), featuring our very own Grape Escape art car (see below for more details).

This was not an easy decision for us, but we know it’s in everyone’s best interest. We’re all in this together. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay kind.

Your Summer Jam West Team
