Owing to the shrinking availability of music in schools an effort between the Columbus Children’s Choir (CCC), the Middle School Honors Chorus, Music in the House, TRANSIT Arts and Central Community House has created a cohesive community outreach program. PFW has provided a grant to CCC , which will engage children in grades 2-8 in the Columbus City Schools and bring music into their lives. CCC will also provide the artistic director to the Middle School Honors Chorus to lead these children through comprehensive lessons in sight reading, two and three part harmonies, and studying the works of Master conductors. CCC conductors will also hold weekly educational sessions with Music in the House a program housed at Central Community House and this program will enable young singers to explore harmony and part singing, rhythmic accompaniment and performance techniques. The pilot of this program was supported by Puffin West in 2013 with great success.   We are grateful to CCC for taking a leadership role in creating these partnerships.
