Eva Andry* is one of Puffin West’s most  admired  activist artists as she is always on time with her commentary on the state of the world.  Here is part of Eva’s Artist’s Statement on her upcoming exhibit CELL PHONE ZOMBIES.  This is a project of Puffin Foundation West and we encourage you to see this important show!

“I paint because I have to express myself.  It is also a powerful medium to encourage thoughtful interpretation.  Be it abstract or representational, my work is a product of my consciousness in trying to understand my world.  The subjects I’ve been drawn to usually involve current events I find disturbing.  The theme of “cell phone zombies” arose from the silence and alienation I’ve felt while surrounded by people looking down at their cell phones ignoring the world around them.  I wanted to show the isolation, even in groups, that the overuse of cell phones creates.  Although there are certainly benefits to this relatively new technology, when human interaction is replaced and neglected it becomes a disturbing and dangerous trend.”
