DUBLIN ARTS COUNCIL WANTS YOU TO KNOW

FROM DAVID GUION, THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Today we have made the difficult, but prudent, decision to cancel the 2020 Sundays at Scioto summer concert series due to COVID-19 precautions. Artists who were scheduled to perform June 7 through July 26 in Dublin’s Scioto Park are being offered contracts for summer of 2021.

I wanted to share this news with you, and to offer information about the following summer program updates as well.

Summer ARTcamps scheduled at Dublin Arts Council for June 8 through July 27 are either being cancelled or reformatted for online instruction. Registrants are being notified and refunds are being processed. Updates will appear at www.dublinarts.org/camps.

CONNECT: an Art & Wellness Discovery event scheduled for June 13 in Dublin’s Scioto Park is rescheduled for Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the same location, 7377 Riverside Dr., Dublin. The event’s theme focuses on combatting isolationism and forging personal and community connections. The event is part of Dublin Arts Council’s Art & Wellness initiative, exploring how the nature of art can nurture personal and community wellbeing. Details will be posted at www.dublinarts.org/artandwellness.

Dublin Arts Council’s annual Garden Party fundraiser, originally scheduled for May 1, will take place Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Conference Center at OCLC in Dublin, 6600 Kilgour Place, in Dublin. Information can be found at www.dublinarts.org/gardenparty.

We’re supporting community need with new approaches, but art is not cancelled! The arts are more important than ever to help us connect, express, heal and overcome. We’re encouraging members of the community to safely experience our public art mobile tour, discover our geocaching-inspired Riverboxes, take a virtual tour of our gallery or to try some of the creative challenges posted on our website.

As soon as we are cleared to gather, we look forward to curating a community exhibition of community-created artwork in response to the time of COVID-19. We’re urging everyone to preserve photos and artwork for this meaningful effort. I look forward to seeing you in person and celebrating as a community.

We continue to explore innovative ways to support our community. If you have an idea for a project or a collaboration, please let me know. Together, we can continue to deliver on our mission: Dublin Arts Council engages the community, cultivates creativity and fosters life-long learning through the arts. Please take good care.
