IT’S $FREE NINETY-NINE! ROCK OUT CMH with CDT!

Columbus Dance Theatre will present its production of Rock Out on the Columbus Commons Stage in downtown Columbus on Saturday, September 20^th 2014 at 8:00 p.m.  CDT will serve as the presenter of this free public concert through funding from the Puffin Foundation West, The Greater Columbus Arts Council, and The Ohio Arts Council.  The Company of Columbus Dance Theatre will dance to classic rock standards performed live by the Carpe Diem String Quartet with musician Andrew Lipke and his band Get the Led Out.  After a sold-out seriesof performances and rave reviews of Rock Out in 2013 local dance and music lovers are primed to come out and enjoy this popular program.  

CDT will rock the city with high energy dance and the sounds of live string quartet and guest musicians Andrew Lipke and Get the Led Out in ROCK OUT!  The Company and these world class musicians will push the limits of movement and music in this one of a kind rock and roll show where classical dancers and musicians dive into the world of classic rock.  This evening of original dances to many classic rock charts including:  White Room, Welcome to the Jungle, Great Gig in the Sky, Freebird, After the Goldrush, and many others will send the city to its feet.  These classic rock tunes are arranged for string quartet, guitar, piano and vocals to create a new kinetic view of these rock classics.

The original music of Andrew Lipke is also be featured on the program.  Lipke performs along with the Quartet adding guitar, piano and vocals to this high energy event.  An added piece of excitement will be the performance of Get the Led Out as part of the evening with a culminating dance, rock, and strings convergence at the end of the night all choreographed by Tim Veach.
