INSTRUMENT ZOOS

The North Carolina Symphony (NCS)  offers Instrument Zoos  to children and their families attending Music Discovery Programs, Young People’s Concerts, and community events which provide engaging early experiences with music. An array of woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion instruments are displayed  and inquisitive children are welcomed to try out an instrument of their choice. The NCS offers this  educational program at multiple events throughout the state. Preschoolers who attend Music Discovery begin to learn important aspects of music such as harmony, tone and rhythm.  They also practice skills such as performing as a team and listening to directions while being exposed to music from different culture.  Thousands of children ages 4-12 will enjoy and learn over the course of these programs.  During the 2019-20 season which PFW has become a sponsor of, the NCS will offer approximate 40 Music Discovery Programs in rural and urban  communities across the state.
