If you are in Boston on April 9th there will be a celebration going on. The Massachusetts Coalition will be recognizing corporations for taking action to diversify their workforce by hiring people who have mental illness. By inviting corporate heads to mingle with elected officials and sharing with them how their mutual investments has visible positive returns, the continuum of this program is assured. This event at the Statehouse is funded in part by PFW and has been very effective in both protecting mental health dollars as well as expanding employment opportunities for Clubhouse members. Clubhouse centers help their members live successfully in the community. For many the Clubhouse Community has become their family lessening the isolation that can be so deadly for those recovering from the effects of mental illness. The Clubhouse movement is fundamentally a human rights movement that began with humble origins and has grown into a state of the art recovery model with over 300 such centers worldwide in 21 countries.
