REMEMBERING BAROQUE WITH PROJECT CADENZAS

 

Cadenzas refers to a special musical moment when the soloist improvises a highly ornamented, dazzling and captivating passage that reflects the expression and identity, of the composer’s creation, as well as its social cultural context.  Project Cadenzas, direct by grantee Hsuan Chang Kitano, an Adjunct Lecturer at the Historical Performance Institute, Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, is creating a video initiative that features music of the Baroque era in period style.  Hsuan Chang Kitano who has is doctorate in fortepiano and harpsichord performance and cares deeply and enthusiastically about an audiences’ experience and enrichment is aiming to create performing  platforms that bring the music of the 17th and 18th century into community life.
