Jess Lamar Reece Holler, and independent artist, has brought another interesting project to PFW and Experimental Environmental Soundscape or Listening as a Solitary Practice. Mostly I think she wants to you to hear that in these times of Covid and its variants that mother nature is still trying to stay alive out there and all you have to do is listen. This is called “acoustic ecology” being the environmental documentation and composition that seek to mobilize the intimate experience of listening, which may stir up memories and communication. Listening and recording of multi-species was done first by new wave sound artist Irv Teibel (1969-79) who found that deep listening aided in healing, enlightened states of awareness and helped
build a more peaceful, just and equitable world. Shhh and listen to the sentient creatures trying but dying… like our Puffins.
